Crescent basket crafted from hand-split white oak by TOAST New Maker Amy Krone, a weaver and founder of the Cambium Lost Arts project based in the Catskill Mountains, New York.

The oak is mindfully sourced from trees on the maker’s land and carefully split to create thin, pliable strips. These are hand-woven into a curved shape using techniques from the Appalachian tradition of basketry. The handle is made from a driftwood branch, found on the banks of a local river. Intended for gathering fruit, vegetables or flowers, the basket takes approximately 20 hours to make. Each varies slightly in shape and colour.

This item is part of our programme. In its sixth year, five makers demonstrating excellence in skill, originality and craftsmanship have been chosen by a TOAST panel. We offer business and marketing advice, as well as a platform to sell their pieces until the end of this year, with full profits being returned to them.

Delivery is included in the price but, as this item is dispatched from the US, import duties and local sales tax may be payable on receipt for countries outside of the US. This is determined by the type of item you are ordering and the value. Any charges paid on receipt are non-refundable should you choose to return the item.
